From the unfortunate experiences of September 11th and the Blackout of August 2003, Emerging Health emphasizes the importance of disaster recovery. The significance we place on the design and implementation of both "hot" and "cold" site recovery services is as great as the commitment we have made to facilities design, software, hardware, communications systems, monitoring and security of our Data Management Center.
The tasks and costs associated with maintaining redundant and off-site systems are enormous. Our Disaster Recovery Services provide customers with the ability to focus on core healthcare functions by outsourcing the disaster recovery-related functions to Emerging Health.
Emerging Health offers several options when it comes to Disaster Recovery Services. DRP are provided by IBM's Recovery Center located in Sterling Forest, NY. Sterling Forest is connected to Emerging Health's Sonet Communications Network and in turn linked to their customers requiring DRP services. Emerging Health provides both "Hot Site" and "Cold Site" recovery services. Outlined below are some of our options:
- Remote Computer Facility access with a guaranteed location or dedicated data center space (Cold Site) that would enable customers to have equipment quickly shipped and configured for production operations within 7 days.
- Hot Site backup with a remote computer facility and standby Tandem processor hardware connected to your hospital's facility via high-speed communication links, which your hospital could utilize in the event of a contingency situation.
- A mirrored environment providing real-time system recovery in the event of a contingent situation. Backup Tandem hardware and DASD would be online and synchronized with your hospital's production system, ready to take over immediately in the event of a contingent situation.
